Mountain Bikers Enjoy Another Great Jurassic Classic MTB Festival in Lander
This past weekend, Wyoming Pathways was honored to be a participant at what has to be one of the most fun mountain biking events in Wyoming, the third annual Jurassic Classic Mountain Bike Festival in Lander Wyoming. The event features the Lander area’s three distinct trail systems, The Bus Loops, Johnny Behind the Rocks and the Sinks Canyon trails in the Shoshone National Forest, all with very different styles of trails. With a big focus on riding and demos, the event throws in numerous other activities to fill the weekend, with volunteer trail work, clinics, a movie, a professional trials demonstration and best of all, free camping at Lander’s City Park.
The event started with a night ride at the Bus Loops on Thursday. Friday included a morning trail work event (gotta show the trails some love!) and afternoon demos and clinics at Johny Behind the Rocks on Friday, followed by a dinner and a movie Friday evening at the (amazing) Lander Bake Shop. Saturday included morning yoga, more demos, a women’s clinic and shuttle rides in Sinks Canyon, followed by a Trade Fair, pro trials demonstration and Shenanigans at Lander City Park in the evening. The event wrapped-up with yoga, another volunteer trail work morning in Sinks Canyon and a kids’ clinic on Sunday.
Highlights of the event included the various bike clinics, the Friday evening movie, “The Moment” and the professional trials riding demonstration at the Trade Fair/Shenanigans on Saturday night.
The organizers and volunteers did an amazing job, making this the best Jurassic Classic yet. If you want to experience this event for yourselves, mark your calendar for a trip to Lander in late August and look for an even bigger and better Jurassic Classic in 2020.
