The Fiscal Year 2020 Trail Funding Request – A Trail Funding Priority Education in a Single Letter

This past Friday, a coalition of trails-focused organizations sent a letter to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee identifying trail priorities and requesting funding for those priorities.   The organizations, including Wyoming Pathways, represent thousands of trail-users who would like to see funding to help reduce our backlog of existing trail maintenance and develop new trails.

The letter details priorities for the US Forest Service, National Parks Service, the Bureau of Land Management and US Fish & Wildlife and specific ways programs can be funded to address the priorities.  Not only does the letter make a compelling case for funding, it also provides an education on the scope of trail needs across the primary US governmental organizations responsible for the trails and the process to address those needs.

We urge everyone to read this letter and hope that our elected representatives on the House Appropriations Committee take it to heart and provide the funding for trails.  You can do your part by mentioning this letter and your support for funding for trails to your Wyoming Delegation.  In the House, that would be Representative Liz Cheney and in the Senate that would be Senators Mike Enzi and John Barrasso.
