Transportation Alternatives Programs Funding Opportunity – Statement of Intent for FY2023 is Now Open

FY2023 TAP Statement of Intent web form

We have some important news about a potential funding source for Active Transportation projects for Wyoming communities. The Fiscal Year 2023 Transportation Alternatives Programs (TAP) is now soliciting Statements of Intent.
Open to Cities, Towns and Counties, the grants are best suited to community sidewalk and pathway system projects. The new funding charts from FHWA indicate that Wyoming will receive $4,665,676 for TAP and $1,474,476 for Recreational Trails. These numbers have been confirmed by the WYDOT Local Government Section (LGC) and they are reviewing the current $500K project cap, so larger projects may be able to apply.

We encourage all Wyoming cities, towns and counties that have Active Transportation projects that could benefit from these grants to apply. If you live in a community that this funding could benefit, please be sure to pass this along to those you know in city, town and county government. Here is the official announcement from the WYDOT LGC, with links to the Statement of Intent and other resources:

The SOI will be open from March 1, 2022, through April 15, 2022. The intent of the SOI is to provide general information about the project you intend to apply for. Submitting an SOI does not commit you to apply for a project.

Please note the following important information:

If you are considering submitting an application, you MUST submit an SOI. Applications will ONLY be made available to entities that submitted an SOI.

You MUST have an individual employed by your agency who has completed the Local Public Agency (LPA) Certification prior to submitting your application. The next LPA Certification will be held on April 13, 2022, in Casper. To register, click the link below:

The Office of Local Government Coordination (LGC) will be conducting site visits at the end of April and the month of May.
